This wonderful Staunton pattern was made popular by the legendary Bobby Fischer, who was often photographed playing with his own set. This is a full tournament-sized set that features a 3.9"-tall king with a 1.75" diameter base. Chess pieces are hand carved by our master artisans from colorful African padauk and boxwood. I recently purchased a Dubrovnik Championship Set with Padauk & Boxwood Pieces from The Chess Store. I have read the stories about how this design was a favorite of Bobby Fischer and I believe these stories are true. I use this set for analysis and after “living” with it for awhile I believe I can give an honest opinion. The carving, lathe work and materials are all first class. It was well worth the price.
