This is our Dubrovnik Championship Series chess set with African padauk and boxwood pieces. This wonderful chess set is an exact replica of the one used in 1970s-era Dubrovnik Chess Olympiad in Siegen, West Germany. This wonderful Staunton pattern was made popular by the legendary Bobby Fischer, who was often photographed playing with his own set. This is a full tournament-sized set that features a 3.9" King with a 1.625" diameter base. Chess pieces are hand carved by our master artisans from the highest quality African padauk and boxwood. The pieces are heavily weighted have thick green baize pads for a soft feel on the chess board. The unique design, quality and craftsmanship of this chess set is simply unmatched. Dubrovnik Set

Posted by John Bauer on 12th Sep 2019

I recently purchased a Dubrovnik Championship Set with Padauk & Boxwood Pieces from The Chess Store. I have read the stories about how this design was a favorite of Bobby Fischer and I believe these stories are true. I use this set for analysis and after “living” with it for awhile I believe I can give an honest opinion. The carving, lathe work and materials are all first class. It was well worth the price.
