Handcrafted in India by highly skilled turners and carvers, our New Exclusive Staunton has a Jaques-esque design with all of the features avid chess players and collectors looks for in an upper-end Staunton chess set. The pieces have an elegant profile and the knight is beautifully sculpted with fine detail. The jet black ebonized and natural color of the boxwood chess pieces go perfect with the walnut and maple chess board. This is a large set with a 3.5" tall king and a base of 1.6". The pieces are triple weighted for exceptional stability on the chess board and have thick green baize pads for easily sliding from square to square and a soft feel when placing down. We include 2 extra queens for pawn promotion.
This beautiful chess board comes from Sunrise Chess and Games in Poland and is an excellent choice for matching with the ebonized and boxwood pieces. This is a handcrafted inlaid chess board made from premium quality walnut and sycamore veneer. The craftsmanship of the inlay work is superb. The squares are 2" and the overall size of the board is 18.9" and .5" thick. The board is finished in a polyurethane matte finish to seal and protect the wood while enhancing the natural colors. There are corner felt pads on the bottom of the board to protect whatever surface it sets on.
