Our French Lardy Staunton is based on the original chess set made by the Lardy Chess Company in France from many years ago. There's nothing fancy about this chess set but it has a masculine handsomeness and a traditional Staunton look that serious chess players prefer for their everyday chess set. This is a medium size chess set with a 3.25" king making it perfect for the games at home. Pieces have green billiard cloth pads for a soft feel when moving and are properly weighted for stability on the chess board. This is an inlaid chess board made for us by Rechapados Ferrer in Spain handcrafted from the finest walnut and maple veneer and sealed with a semi-gloss polyurethane finish to protect the wood. The precision of the workmanship is remarkable. The chess board has 1.75" squares accentuated by a decorative delimiter and surrounded by an extra wide frame.
