Our French Lardy Staunton is based on the original chess set made by the Lardy Chess Company in France from many years ago. This is a smaller size chess set with a 2.75" king making it perfect for games at home. Pieces have green billiard cloth pads for a soft feel when moving and are properly weighted for stability on the chess board. The rich brown color of our Deluxe Walnut and Maple Chess Board is perfect for matching with the golden-brown color of the golden rosewood and cream-colored boxwood pieces. This is an inlaid chess board made from the finest walnut and maple veneer and sealed with a semi-gloss polyurethane finish to protect the wood. The precision of the inlay work is remarkable. The chess board has 1.5" squares accentuated by a decorative delimiter and surrounded by an extra wide frame. The overall size of the board is 15.5" and is .5" thick.
