This is our Dubrovnik Championship Series chess set with anjan and boxwood pieces. This wonderful chess set is an exact replica of the one used in 1970s-era Dubrovnik Chess Olympiad in Siegen, West Germany. This wonderful Staunton pattern was made popular by the legendary Bobby Fischer, who was often photographed playing with his own set. This is a full tournament-sized set that features a 3.9" King with a 1.625" diameter base. Chess pieces are hand carved by our master artisans and crafted out of the highest quality anjan and boxwood. The chess pieces are heavily weighted have thick green baize pads for a soft feel on the chess board. The unique design, quality and craftsmanship of this chess set is simply unmatched. Really like this one

Posted by Jim Eoff on 7th Nov 2020

I became interested in buying a Dubrovnik set because the original was evidently Bobby Fischer's favorite and I saw it in the old pictures. I liked the idea of this Anjan wood also and do like it very much (I'd previously bought something in Rosewood and didn't like that one quite as much as I had expected, for some reason). I love the feel and the wide bases (which are a big part of the feel when moving) and the shapes of the pieces (slightly slender appearance in relation to height), and the fact that this style is not seen everywhere.
