This package includes our Queen's Gambit Series chess set with golden rosewood and boxwood pieces matched with our Deluxe Walnut and Maple Chess Board and Classic Walnut Chess Box. Inspired by the hit Netflix series, The Queen's Gambit, these are the exact same pieces Beth and the young Russian protégé, Georgi Girev, played with in their match in Mexico City, and nearly lost. The pieces are made from golden rosewood and boxwood with a traditional polished lacquer finish. The king is 3.75" tall with a base diameter of 1.5". The pieces are heavily weighted for exceptional stability and have green billiard cloth pads for a soft feel on the chess board. We include two extra queens for pawn promotion and a certificate of manufacture so that you will always know where the chess set came from and what it is.
Our Walnut and Maple Deluxe Chess Board is made for us by the craftsmen of Rechapados Ferrer in Spain, the leading chess board manufacturer in the world. The brown colors of the walnut and maple are a perfect match with the golden rosewood and boxwood pieces. This is an inlaid chess board made from the finest walnut and maple veneer and sealed with a matte polyurethane finish to protect the wood. The board has 2" squares with an overall size of 19.5”. The board has a wide frame the full width of a square for visual balance and is separated from the squares by a triple inlay delimiter. The precision of the inlay work is remarkable.
Our Classic Walnut chess Box is wonderfully constructed and reminiscent of the old heirloom quality chess boxes from many years ago. The box is covered in walnut veneer and the interior is lined with thick green baize just like we use for the pads on our chess pieces. The box has a divider in the center for storing the black and white pieces separately. We used high quality recessed hinges and a brass plated lock for securing the lid. We include 2 keys in case one ever gets lost. Playing chess with the same pieces Beth used against Georgi will add more enjoyment to every game you play and add interest and beauty to your home décor.
