This beautiful handcrafted chess set and chess box combination includes our Parker Staunton with golden rosewood and boxwood pieces matched with our walnut chess box. The Parker has the look and character you expect in a traditional Staunton chess set. The knights are wonderfully carved with just the right level of detail for a chess set that will get a lot of use. The golden rosewood has rich golden-brown colors and a beautiful grain while the cream colored natural boxwood is the perfect wood for the white chess pieces. The pieces are hand polished and lacquered to a beautiful luster. The king is 3.75" tall and has a base diameter of 1.625" - an ideal tournament size set. The pieces are heavily weighted and have thick green baize pads for a soft feel on the chess board. We include 2 spare queens for pawn promotion and a certificate of authenticity so you will always know what the chess set is, where it came from, and when it was made. This attractive walnut chess box is perfect for storing your golden rosewood chessmen. This is a traditional chess box that is designed for stacking or laying your chessmen on top of each other and there's plenty of room. It has an old world-charm with its lock and key for securing the lid and emerald green baize interior with a divider in the center for separating the two chess piece colors. This is an inlaid wood box with high quality walnut veneer on the outside and sealed with a satin polyurethane finish. The lock and recessed hinges are brass plated and have a rich looking gold-color mirror finish. The bottom of the box is covered in with black felt to protect furniture where it might sit.
