This chess set package includes our German Staunton Chess Set in rosewood and boxwood together with our Deluxe Mahogany and Maple Chess Board and mahogany chess box. Sometimes simple is best and that's true of our German Knight Staunton chess set with its simple but attractive design. Unencumbered by fine detail, the pieces will stand up to the rigor of everyday play and it's an especially good chess set for blitz. The king is 2.75" tall and has a base of 1.125". Pieces have thick green baize pads for a soft cushion on the chess board and are weighted for stability. The rosewood and boxwood are hand polished to a beautiful sheen. More chess games have been played with a German Knight than any other chess set in the world and it continues to be our most popular chess set.
Our Deluxe Mahogany and Maple Chess Board is made with the finest veneers and sealed in semi-gloss polyurethane protective finish. The squares are 1.5" and the overall size of the board is 15" and .5 thick. A triple inlay border accentuates the playing area and the bottom of the board has pads to protect whatever surface it sets on. The chess box is wonderfully constructed and reminiscent of the old heirloom quality chess boxes from many years ago. The box is covered in mahogany veneer and the interior is lined with a thick green baize just like we use for the pads on our chess pieces. The box has a divider in the center for storing the black and white pieces separately. We used high quality recessed hinges and a brass plated lock for securing the lid. We include 2 keys in case one ever gets lost.
