This traditional handcrafted Staunton chess set includes our Deluxe Old Club with ebonized and natural boxwood pieces with our Mahogany and Maple Molded Edge Chess Board. The Deluxe Old Club Staunton is one of our most popular models and is often called the Reykjavik. The Deluxe Old Club is an ageless classic and is one of the most recognized chess sets among chess players. It has been featured on countless covers of chess books and other chess publications. The knight features a simple but handsome design and the pieces are heavily weighted making this a poplar set for club and tournament competition as well as the game at home. These are tournament size pieces with a 3.75" tall king and a base diameter of 1.625". The pieces are heavily weighted for stability on the chess board and have thick green baize pads. We include 2 extra queens for pawn promotion.
Our Mahogany and Maple Molded Edge Chess Board from Rechapados Ferrer combines classic design with elegant features to create an eye-catching battlefield for your chess game. This is an inlaid chess board handcrafted from high quality mahogany and maple veneer and sealed with a polyurethane finish that both protects and enhances the beauty of the wood. A wide black delimiter accentuates the playing field and enhances the rich color of the mahogany while the black stained molded edge highlights the entire board. The squares are 2” and the footprint of the board is 19.5” square. Four felt pads on the bottom will protect whatever furniture the board sets on.
Our Classic Mahogany Chess Box is wonderfully constructed and reminiscent of the old heirloom quality boxes from years ago. The box is covered in mahogany veneer while the interior is lined with a luxurious thick green baize just like we use for the pads on our chess pieces. The box is a loose-piece design for simple stacking of the pieces and has a divider in the center for neatly storing the black and white pieces separately. We use high quality brass plated hardware including recessed hinges, lock, and key adding the final touch to this beautiful box.
