He was a military and political genius with major achievements in both areas. The pieces are massive and heavy with a 4.75" tall king. Made of cast zinc using the old-world lost wax casting process, the pieces brass and nickel plated and then sealed with a lacquer to keep them from tarnishing over time.
The chess board made from the finest walnut burl and whitened bird's-eye maple veneer is one of the most beautiful in our collection. Walnut burl has unique and beautiful character with rich brown and orange colors that intermingle creating in irregular patterns making each chess board a unique creation. The whitened bird's-eye maple used for the white squares creates a wonderful contrast next to the much darker walnut burl.
