This folding magnetic travel chess set is an ideal size, portable for travel yet large enough for a practical game of chess. Inside it has individual formed compartments inside for securely holding the pieces - no rattling around! The chessmen have powerful magnets that will keep them in place even if you don't have a flat and stable surface to play on. The wood case and chessmen are made of acacia wood and boxwood and have a lacquer finish.

    Pieces are good quality, magnets keep them well anchored to board. My only complaint is that the hinges stick out from the underside of the board, so it doesn't lie flat on a table.

    This was a wonderful purchase! I got it for a Christmas present and the quality was great, and the board is really well made. We played a game right away and it was really great and easy to use. Also came really quick and super well packaged/protected. Definitely recommend.

    I really love the set! It's beautiful and just the right size. The only reason I gave it 4 1/2 stars instead of 5 is that there is no way to keep it flat when open. If there were recessed magnets in the spine, it would be perfect. But I'm VERY happy with it.

    I recently got this set as a gift for my adult daughter and she was delighted to receive it, saying she hoped it would stay in the family for generations. A nice piece of workmanship at a reasonable price; I’m very pleased with the purchase.
