Our Zagreb Series WoodTek™ Chess Set in boxwood and rosewood wood grain captures the charm of classic wooden chessmen while offering the strength and easy care of modern materials. This iconic design rose to prominence in the late 1950s, debuting in the 1959 World Championship Candidates Tournament in Zagreb.
Made with our exclusive WoodTek™ wood-grain plastic and a smooth matte finish, these pieces offer a warm, natural look without the upkeep of real wood. Each piece is heavily weighted for stability and fitted with thick green baize pads for a soft, quiet glide. The arched-neck knight with its turned-down head stands out instantly, while the king, queen, and bishop feature contrasting-color finials, a hallmark of Eastern European chess style. Perfect for tournament play or home display, the Zagreb brings vintage elegance to every match.

Amazing pieces
These are stunning. When you look at them, they look like wood. Zagreb is my favorite set and these are great.

Zagreb Resin Chess Pieces
I had seen a previous iteration of these pieces in the past, and they were very shiny and that gave them a very plastic look. The new design has a matte finish which looks so much nicer, and also the faux wood grain looks excellent too. It has the look of wood with the durability of plastic. I am enjoying mine very much.

Great looking set. Solid pieces. Hard to tell from the more expensive sets. Great buy.
