Inspired by the hit Netflix series, The Queen's Gambit, these are the exact same pieces Beth and the young Russian protégé, Georgi Girev, played with in their match in Mexico City, and nearly lost (see YouTube video above). The pieces are handcrafted from ebonized and natural boxwood with a traditional polished lacquer finish. The king is 3.75" tall with a base diameter of 1.5". The pieces are heavily weighted for exceptional stability and have green billiard cloth pads for a soft feel on the chess board. We include two extra queens for pawn promotion and a certificate of manufacture so that you will always know where the chess set came from and what it is. Playing chess with the same pieces Beth used against Georgi will add a special fund to every game you play.
