The Chess Store is releasing it's final Sultan Staunton Chess Set in ebony and antiqued boxwood that has been store away for over 10 years. This is a brand new set that has never been used and is pin perfect condition. The knight with its downward arching head and carved reigns is spectacular. The carving, especially the mane, is intricately detailed and with the replication only the best carvers in the world can achieve. This is a very large, club size chess set with a 4.4" tall king. The profile is elegant and the pieces have a stout base and are heavily weighted for exceptional stability on the chess board. The king features two interchangeable finials which only the finest chess sets have. Our Deluxe Coffer is the perfect way to store these prized pieces and we included 2 additional compartments for spare queens. We discontinued the coffer several years ago and this is the last we have that has been stored away for several years. There are a couple of minor imperfections that are hardly noticeable and likely be touched up with minimal effort. Our coffer has an upper and lower tray and we provide thick foam pads covered in billiard cloth that can be used hold the pieces in place when you close and lock the lid. Made from solid hardwood and veneers, we stained this a deep mahogany and it looks wonderful with any chess set or decor. The overall dimensions are 17" x 10.75" x 6.25".
