Inspired by the hit Netflix series The Queen’s Gambit, these are the same pieces Beth Harmon and the young Russian prodigy Georgi Girev played with during their memorable match in Mexico City. Handcrafted from ebonized and natural boxwood with a polished lacquer finish, the pieces feature a 3.75" king with a 1.5" base for excellent stability. Heavily weighted and fitted with green billiard cloth pads, they glide smoothly across the board with a soft, satisfying feel. Two extra queens are included for pawn promotion, and each set comes with a Certificate of Manufacture so you will always know the origin and craftsmanship of your chess set. Playing with the same style of pieces seen in the series adds a special fun to every game you play.
Our Folding Mahogany & Maple Chess Case combines classic elegance with practical design, offering a beautiful board that also provides storage inside for pieces. The board is beautifully crafted with mahogany and natural maple veneers showcasing the striking contrast between the rich orange-brown and the natural maple. The board features 2" sqaures with the board having a 17.75" square footprint that will fit most small tables or desks. Inside, you’ll find two spacious storage compartments, each lined with soft green felt to help cushion and protect your pieces during storage and transport. Two brass plated lathes tightly secure the case when closed.
