From our Staunton by Design Collection, our Decorative Parker Staunton in burnt boxwood and boxwood offers a traditional Staunton chess set with a unique design and finish. It has a classic style with handsome knights that have the look and feel of the older Jaques designs. To create the black, chess pieces are actually burnt followed by the final carving and design work which creates a beautiful contrast in colors between the blackened areas and the natural golden wood colors underneath. Chess pieces are then finished in high gloss lacquer giving the chess pieces a glass-like finish. A wonderful set for a casual game of chess or tournament play.

Excellent burnt boxwood pieces
What drew me to this product was that these were the most exquisitely ornate wooden pieces that I had ever seen. The price was a lot lower than I expected so I bought them immediately. When I got them I checked every piece and they were perfect. The box they come in is nice enough to be their permanent home. These chessmen were beyond my expectations. The knight is so well carved he even has teeth! The white pieces also had a very attractive and visible wood grain. Getting two queens was a huge plus. This kind of quality and unique style is unheard of at this price range and I am very happy with my purchase.
