This spectacular chess case will look stunning with nearly any chess set whether wood, metal, or a colorful theme chess set. The case is covered with Macassar and maple wood veneer and finished in a high gloss polyurethane finish which gives it the luxurious, glass-like finish. The playing surface is highlighted by an elegant inlay accentuating the colors of the natural wood. The case has 2 drawers, one on each player’s side, with a total of 32 individual compartments lined with a soft beige velour material for storing and protecting chess pieces. This case has 2" squares that are large enough for chess sets with a king base diameter ranging from 1.5" to 1.625". The compartments are large enough to hold chess pieces with up to a 4" tall king and 1.7" base diameter. The Macassar ebony is simply stunning and the high gloss finish enhances the gorgeous colors. This box is beautiful and looks awesome with the Parker Staunton chess pieces we purchased. It's so well made and is like a piece of art. We are so pleased with it!

    Beautiful!

I purchased this case for my husband as a xmas gift and it just came in yesterday. The shipping was fast, the case was well packed, and this is a wonderful price for the product. The case is absolutely gorgeous! Glossy and well made, the drawers are plenty big enough for the chess set we have (3.25" queen). Nothing will be cramped, and the lined individual compartments - 2 drawers, same size, 1 on either side of the board (which is difficult to tell from the photos) - will keep pieces from knocking into each other while stored. I chose this case on this site specifically because it had individual compartments for the pieces - why have a beautiful case and a lovely chess set if they get dinged against each other being stored loose in the same drawer? I'm very pleased with the purchase, and I know my husband is going to love it!
