This large and heavy chess set is made from a solid resin-based material that is durable with a rich looking high-gloss finish. The pieces have a classic Staunton design with an unusually large rook that players love and a beautifully designed knight with fine detail. The pieces are black and a natural boxwood color with a realistic looking wood grain pattern. The king is 4.25" tall with a 1.9" base and the complete set weighing a full sixty-seven ounces.     I am on the verge of being a chess set collector and I must say this set is a dandy! Not sure if I like the “wet look” or not ,but the size is great especially the rook.Being third in command he should be third highest.

    This is a tremendous set for the price. They are heavily weighted, the knight is quite unique, and finally the rooks are of a size that reflect their value and power! You'll be extremely happy with this set.
