Our Dubrovnik Championship Series chess set is an exact replica of the one used in 1970s-era Dubrovnik Chess Olympiad in Siegen, West Germany. This wonderful Staunton pattern was made popular by the legendary Bobby Fischer, who was often photographed playing with his own set. This is a full tournament-sized set that features a 3.9"-tall king with a 1.75" diameter base. Chess pieces are hand carved by our master artisans from rosewood and boxwood. Wonderful
I wanted to finally add a Dubrovnik set to my modest collection and chose this rosewood & boxwood version. The rosewood pieces are much darker in real life than the online picture and look magnificent. The pieces handle quite nicely and are well-balanced. The distinctive knights look solid and powerful. This set pairs beautifully with my “Queen’s Gambit” chess board..I’m thoroughly delighted.
