Replaced My Original Case Bought In Italy back in 2000

Posted by Wilbert Morell on 18th Apr 2022

I bought this case as a set in Italy in 2000, the pieces were figurines made of wood, painted, and coated with an enamel gloss coating. Anyway, the set was on my floor under my bed during Hurricane Katrina in Slidell Louisiana and the case was destroyed in a flood. The pieces were so well built, they escaped damage. So this case replacement was cost effective for a set that sells between $550 and $750 today with the higher cost in Pesa Italy where I purchased in Italy in 2000 for $350. Chess store has the set on sale for $550.

Great Case - Just Keep It Out Of Floods

Posted by Bill Morell on 15th Apr 2022

I purchased this case with lifelike wood chess pieces with enameled painted figures when I was in Italy with the Navy Decades ago. My home in Slidell Louisiana was flooded from Hurricane Katrina in 2005 and only the case was destroyed, was happy to find a new case to complete my set.
