Our British Staunton draws inspiration from a vintage design originating from the old British Chess Company in the mid-1800s. Featuring a purely traditional Staunton design, the pieces are handcrafted from golden rosewood and boxwood and lacquer polished to a lustrous finish. This is a thirty-four-piece set that includes two extra queens for pawn promotion. The king is 3.5”-tall with base diameter of 1.5” making it the perfect pieces for your chess games at home. The pieces are heavily weighted for exceptional stability and have thick green baize pads on the bottom for a soft cushion on the chess board. We include a Certificate of Manufacturer so you will always know what the pieces are, when they were made, and where they came from.

I got this set for my son for his 13th birthday to go with the beautiful chess table my father gave him. I couldn't be happier with this set! Everything about it is A+. Beautiful look and sculpting. Thick nice felt. Very heavily weighted. Two queens for each side. Such a joy to play with!!! I can highly recommend this set!!!!!

Chess Set shipped day after ordered and arrived just a few days later. Excellent quality! Pieces were exactly as advertised and beautifully machined/carved and finished. Was able to take advantage of sale, first order discount and free shipping. Customer service was excellent via email. I would have liked to have talked to someone directly prior to ordering, but it was difficult to connect with anyone via phone. Happy customer!
