Pieces are made from an attractive glossy plastic and are unweighted. Excellent Economy Set for a 1ft x 1ft Board
At about $6, this is an excellent value for the money! It's basically the kid's Chess set I had in 1970, minus the cardboard playing board. You can't buy those sets anymore in the regular stores. I run a Chess club at a nursing home. These pieces are big enough for the residents to see. And they fit the standard-sized checker board that the establishment owns. There really is no downside. For the cash, this set is perfect. It would be nice if the pieces were weighted and maybe had painted highlights to increase visibility for seniors. But, we certainly couldn't expect such luxuries in an economy set.
