This luxurious chess set includes our Parker Staunton chess pieces handcrafted from boxwood matched with our Black and Ash Burl High Gloss Deluxe Chess Board. Our Parker Staunton is a throwback to the vintage Staunton chess set patterns from over a hundred years ago. The Parker embodies the rich history of Staunton with traditional design elements in every respect from pawn to king. The knight is masterfully carved with shape, features, and detail reminiscent of past chess set masterpieces. The pieces are handcrafted from boxwood and then burnt and engraved to reveal the boxwood underneath creating a unique and beautiful pattern on each piece. This is a 34-piece set that includes two extra queens for pawn promotion. The king is 3.75" tall with a base diameter of 1.625", the perfect size for tournament chess games. Heavily weighted for exceptional stability, the pieces have thick green baize pads for a soft cushion on the chess board. We include a Certificate of Manufacturer so you will always know what the pieces are, when they were made, and where they came from.
Our Black and Ash Burl Deluxe Chess Board made for us by Rechapados Ferrer combines classic design with elegant features creating an eye-catching battlefield for your chess game. This is an inlaid chess board handcrafted from high quality black poplar and ash burl veneer sealed with a high gloss polyurethane finish giving the board a luxurious glass-like finish. A triple-layer delimiter defines the playing field, and a wide frame gives aesthetic balance to the board. The squares are 2” and the footprint of the board is 19.5” square. Four felt pads on the bottom will protect whatever furniture the board sets on.

Nice product
If your looking for a display Chess set, this one is beautiful. It is fairly light and the board is thin. Experienced chess players ( you probably aren't looking at this set anyway ), would probably prefer one of their Brass metal or gold silver sets. This set is inexpensive & very affordable. Purchased as a gift for beginner player, he really loved it.

GORGEOUS
I wanted to learn how to play chess and was looking for a chess set that could be left out on display when not being used. I saw this set on the Chess Store web cite and thought it looked gorgeous. However, you always wonder if what you actually get will live up to what you see. I have to say this set did not disappoint. It is impressive and looks gorgeous sitting on our bookcase. It came safely package and immediately catches your eye when you walk into the family room. It is really stunning and is something that we will pass down to our children. I would recommend this set to anyone who is looking not only for a great playing chess set but a truly unique work of art.

Parker Staunton in Burnt Boxwood
I received my order today and as I opened the box I almost couldn't contain myself. This is the first "real" chessboard Ive owned and as it came out of the box my jaw almost fell off my face. Its absolutely beautiful. The pieces are weighted and have a nice solid feel, the board is just stunning and together they make my dining room look so elegant. I have not even played a game yet, I just keep sitting here staring at it, lol. As far as shipping and handling, the packaging was top notch..no damage, quick processing. Ive been wanting this set for a while and decided to spend my Christmas money on it...when I finally decided to place my order..it was on sale! I ended up saving $60. It was well worth the money and I know it will be cherished and passed down to my kids one day. THANKS CHESS STORE!
