We introduced our Fierce Knight Series handcrafted chess set back in 2001 and it was an instant hit with the chess community. The name we gave this set accurately describes the knight with its fierce countenance captured by the detailed sculpture of its perked ears, eyes, nose, and mouth. This is the midsize version of the Fierce Knight with a 3.5” king and a base diameter of 1.625”. Pieces are made from ebonized and natural boxwood and are heavily weighted for exceptional stability on the chess board. Thick green baize pads on the bottom create a soft cushion and allow the pieces to slide smoothly across the chess board. From top to bottom the pieces have a graceful profile and elegant shape creating a cohesive design from king to pawn. We include two extra queens for pawn promotion and a certificate of authenticity so you will always know what the chess set is, what the wood is, where it came from, and when it was made. The Fierce Knight continues to be one of our most popular Staunton chess sets.
