Pieces have thick green baize pads for a soft cushion on the chess board and are weighted for stability. The king measures 3.25" tall and has a base of 1.25". Our Deluxe Two-Drawer Black & Bird's-Eye Maple Chess Case is the ideal choice for combining a chess board with a way for storing pieces when you are not playing a game. This exterior of the case is made from solid poplar with an elegant molded edge design that incorporates a graceful curve and a three row beaded section at the top. The chess board is made from black stained poplar and bird's-eye maple veneer and has a decorative mahogany inlaid border to delineate the playing area. There are two drawers, one on each player's side that completely pull out to make it easy to put pieces away or take them back out. A recessed magnet on each of the drawer secures the drawer when closed.
