Named after the stallion rode by the Duke of Wellington during the battle of Waterloo, the Copenhagen is without a doubt one of the most complex and elegant Staunton designs in our collection. The knight's mane is flowing straight back as if running into battle. The knight is beautifully sculpted with realistic features and fine detail including the ears, eyes, nose, mouth. The Copenhagen is a large set with a 4.5 inch tall king. The pieces are heavily weighted for exceptional balance and stability and have thick green billiard cloth pads. The king has two different finials with a press-fit so that you can change from one to other as you please and include and 2 extra queens for pawn promotion. We include a certificate of authenticity so you will always know what the chess set name is, the type of wood, the year it was made, and where it came from.
Our Black and Ash Burl High Gloss Deluxe Chess Board goes perfect with ebony and boxwood chess pieces. Imported from Spain, this is an inlaid chess board made for us by Rechapados Ferrer. The black and golden color of the natural ash burl are enhanced by the high gloss, glass-like finish creating an elegant backdrop for the ebony and boxwood chess pieces. A pinstripe delimiter around the squares and an extra-wide frame adds an elegant look to the board. The squares are 2.355" with the chess board measuring 23.5" x 23.5”.
