I am VERY positively impressed. We bought this as a gift for our 7 year old granddaughter, who has begun to get absorbed into the world of chess. This item is very well made and has great functionality. The magnets to keep the chess pieces from sliding around on the board is both ingenious and works great. There is enough magnetic pull to keep the pieces from sliding around inadvertently, but not so much as to make it hard to move the pieces on purpose. My only "rap" on the item would be that the chess pieces themselves are quite ordinary, and the board itself is extraordinary. I wonder if they might produce two versions, one as is, and the other with very high-end carved pieces.
I have been loving my new Acacia Wood Folding Magnetic Travel Chess Set (12"). Its my first chess set that I purchase for myself and it is so nice for the cost. The wood feels great and it all looks beautiful. I really like the felt bottoms, the slight magnetic board/pieces, and the felt inside for piece storage. I feel like it is perfect for both travel and for an at-home chess set. Highly recommend this chess set as the most value for your buck.
