This chess set package includes our Fierce Knight Staunton Chess Set with golden rosewood and boxwood pieces matched with our Walnut Burl and Bird's-Eye Maple Chess Board and Classic Bird's-Eye Maple Chess Box. Our Fierce Knight is a blend of contemporary and traditional Staunton design featuring knights that are carved with realistic features. The perked ears, eyes, mouth, and mane create a fierce looking countenance that gives this set its name. The pieces have an elegant profile that is carefully turned to perfection on every piece and the acacia and boxwood are hand polished to a rich sheen. The pieces are triple weighted for exceptional stability on the chess board. The bottom of the pieces are padded with the traditional thick green baize for easily sliding from square to square and a soft feel when sitting down.
Our Walnut Burl and Bird's-Eye Maple Chess Board offers a luxurious back drop for these special chess pieces. Handcrafted from premium veneer, this chess board highlights the deep, rich hues of the walnut burl contrasted with the golden tones of the bird's-eye maple. The squares are surrounded with a wide black delimiter and a black border on the outside accentuates the bird’s-eye maple frame. A semi-gloss polyurethane finish both protects and enhances the color of the wood. The squares are 2” with an overall footprint of 19.5”.
Our Bird's-Eye Maple Classic Chess Box is wonderfully constructed and reminiscent of the old heirloom quality chess boxes from years ago. The box is covered in beautiful bird's-eye maple veneer that perfectly matches the chess board squares and frame with a lustrous semi-gloss polyurethane finish. The interior is lined with a thick emerald-green baize just like we use for the pads on our chess pieces. The box has a divider in the center for conveniently storing the black and white pieces separately. We use high quality brass plated quadrant hinges that neatly recess into the wall of the box and a brass plated lock and key for securing the lid when closed. It's the perfect chess box for safely storing and protecting these special chess pieces.
