The Zukert is our largest and heaviest plastic chess set with a 4.25" tall king. While not not meant to be an exact replica, the Zukert was inspired by the Zukertort, an original Jaques of London chess set from the mid 1800s named for the Grand Master Johannes Zukertort. The Zukert's knight with its old world nostalgic look is what distinguishes this set from others. We simply refined and accentuated its features to create a new and unique design. We applied this principal to all six chess pieces creating a chess set that is truly a master piece. If you are looking for an large plastic chess set with a unique design and exceptional features, the Zukert will not disappoint!

This is my second set. I love it that much. Nice weighting.
I love the size of this set. The king is nicely weighted. I wish the pawns and other pieces were a bit heavier. The pawns run around 1.1 oz with some a bit less. My smaller set actually has heavier pawns! Go figure. But all in all this is a great set.
This is one of the better chess sets I ever purchased! Tall king (4.25"), all large pieces make up the entire set.
Each piece is triple weighted, and you can fell the difference from a standard chess set in weight. Another
plus is two (2) queens is included in the set, should one pawn make it to other side requiring an extra queen. The
cost was very reasonable for what I consider to be a deluxe chess set.
As a minor drawback, It would have been nice if a cloth bag or some sort of carrier was included with the set.
However, I classify the set within a 5 star range even without a carrier. The Chess Store has a great
variety of chess bags, boxes, etc. should you require one.
I did quite a bit of online shopping before I chose to go with The Chess Store. What prompted my search for chess pieces was that I came across and purchased a unique three dimensional chess board. It's made of some type of high density polymer and there is actually depth to each square on the board. Each square measured 2 inches by 2 inches. So I wanted chess pieces that would compliment the board and vice-versa.
I decided to go with the Zukert design after I researched the history behind the design. During the process, I learned of Polish born Grand Master Johannes Zukertort. He was a leading chess player in the from 1870 to 1880.
I placed the order and it shipped on time as promised. We did experience a delay in receiving the pieces due to winter blizzards along the shipping route. When the piece arrived, I could not be more satisfied! I love the look AND the feel of the pieces! They are also nicely weighted. They look and feel like they belong with this unique board! Thanks for the experience!
The pieces are large, heavily weighted and look great!
