Wellington Staunton Wood Chess Pieces

Named after the Duke of Wellington, the British general whom defeated Napoleon at the Battle of Waterloo, the Wellington blends contemporary and traditional Staunton design resulting in one of our most elegant sets. The knight is beautifully designed with attractive features that are meticulously carved including a flying mane, eyes, nostrils, mouth and teeth. The king is 4.25" tall and features an ornate finial that is unique from any other chess set in our collection. The lathe work is extraordinary with compound collars and eloquent lines turned into the base. Even the rook stands out as an extraordinary piece with its' unique parapet and crenellations. The pawns are extra-large making them easy to handle during the game. Pieces are heavily weighted and have green baize pads for a soft and cushioned feel on the chess board. Choose from ebony/boxwood, African padauk/boxwood, or ebony/African padauk wood combinations.
