This large and attractive Staunton chess set includes our SpruceTek resin chess pieces matched with our Deluxe Walnut and Maple Chess Board. The pieces like real wood but it's actually made from a patented resin based material by the name of SpruceTek. Pieces are large and heavy and feature a traditional Staunton design with a beautifully sculpted knight. The king is 4.25" tall king and weighs 3.8 ounces with the complete chess set weighing a total 64 ounces. The SpruceTek resin produces an elegant high gloss finish and the pieces have black leatherette pads on the bottom.
The rich brown color of the walnut and maple chess board make a wonderful backdrop against the obsidian black ebony and cream-colored boxwood pieces. Made for us by Rechapados Ferrer, this is an inlaid chess board made from the finest walnut and maple veneer and sealed with a semi-gloss polyurethane finish to protect the wood. The precision of the inlay work is remarkable. The chess board has 2.375" squares accentuated by elegant triple inlay delimiter and surrounded by an extra wide frame. The overall size of the board is 23.5" and is .5" thick. With a combination of large beautiful pieces with a high quality chess board, you will not find a better value in a Staunton chess set.
