Our exclusive ProTourney plastic chess set with its beautifully detailed knight is our all-time best selling premium quality plastic chess set. Introduced back in 2002, the ProTourney continues to be a favorite for club and tournament players looking for a truly special chess set. The pieces have an attractive broad-base design that are triple weighted for exceptional stability and thick green baize pads for a soft feel on the chess board. These are black and camel pieces with a matte finish so you don't get the reflection that you do with glossy pieces. The knight has an elegant design with beautifully sculpted artistic features and detail you will not find on other plastic sets. All of these features combine to make the ProTourney a favorite with players and a terrific tournament chess set.

Extra chess pieces are available for this chess set. You can view them by our Replacement Plastic Pieces page.

    Perfect

Posted by Robert on 7th Dec 2018

This is the second set of Pro Tourney pieces I have purchased. Quality is consistent, and each piece has had the plastic molding seam polished away. The weight of these pieces is perfect—pieces would need to be tilted more than 45 degrees in order to fall over!

The black and camel pieces provide the perfect contrast with my green and buff board.

    Great quality

I have a very nice wooden set that I play on while at home. These pieces are very comparable to my wooden set in terms of feel. In fact, they have a bit more weight which is great when playing outdoors. The craftsmanship is excellent for plastic. Though plastic can never replace the feeling and organic quality of wood, they are durable and do not feel "weak" in the hand. Perfect for taking to the park or traveling outside of the home.

    Look no further

There is nothing about these that would poke your eye... The size and design is perfect, the set works flawlessly as a whole. The weight is more than sufficient and you really can't expect more from the construction quality. The more detailed pieces even come in a protective foam wrapping, which I thought was a nice touch, a cheap way to convey professionalism and a sign they are passionate about their job. Well done!

Only thing I would include is a felt pouch and charge a hair more for the set, more so for "first impression" and branding purposes than anything else.

I love my new chess pieces. I am very impressed by the weight. The pieces are distinctive and durable. I couldn't ask for more.

    Nice chess set

The men are easy to read since the design is conventional. Nice weight factor and feels solid

    Pro Tourney Chess Oieces

This is a very nice plastic chess set, one of the best made in my opinion. Would have preferred that the items came in a small cardboard box as opposed to two plastic bags. but beyond that great set.

    pro tourney chess set

Posted by fred muehleck on 25th Oct 2015

The price is excellent. This is the fifth or sixth set I have purchased through the chess store. Why so many? I play speed chess in a bar with my friends and the pieces are frequently thrown or knocked on the floor as we are all drinking, yelling and playing chess at the same time (just one game and six or seven kibbitzers.) The large pieces are easy to handle and find on the floor, and pretty durable. This is my first "pro tourney" set and I particularly like the laid back ears of the knight in a fighting mode and the tall rook with low crenellations that do not break easily.
