Pershing Staunton Chess Pieces

Named for the great General John "Black Jack" Pershing of the United States army, our Pershing Staunton Chess Set is traditional Staunton design with a knight of exceptional character. General Pershing led the American Expeditionary Forces in World War I and was promoted to the highest rank ever held in the United States Army - General of the Armies. Both design and name are fitting of each other.

The knight has a fine Jaques-like design and attractive features that are precisely carved and replicated from piece to piece. The king is 4.25" tall and features an ornate finial that is unique from any other chess set in our collection. The lathe work is extraordinary with compound collars and eloquent lines turned into the base. Even the rook stands out as an extraordinary piece with its' unique parapet and crenellations. The pawns are extra-large making them easy to handle during the game. Pieces are heavily weighted and have green baize pads for a soft and cushioned feel on the chess board. Available in ebony/boxwood or African padauk/boxwood wood combinations.
