This theme chess set is based on Christian Europe's military conquests to reclaim the Holy Land from the Arab world. There were nine major crusades spanning from the 11th through the 13th centuries in which the Christian and Muslim armies fought for control of the Holy Land.

    Classic Crusader Chess

    Beautiful classic crusader chess set arrived with each piece placed in a slot in a foam lined case. Perfectly packed & all pieces arrived safely. Detailed delicate painting of figures & themed design exceeded expectations. The Kings & Queens were each distinct, delicately painted individuals & reflected the contrasting cultures. The Rooks were Towers & the Knights warriors on horseback. Bishops were detailed & demonstrated the two different religions. Pawns were crossbow foot soldiers for the Christians & bowmen for their opponents. The weight size & feel of pieces were perfect. A chess set for display & careful play with good friends & colleagues. I could not be more pleased!
