It's been over 4 years since we last offered our Khan Stallion but we continually receive requests for this unique and beautiful chess set so we have brought it back and haven't changed a thing. Our Khan's Stallion is named after the famous Genghis Khan who founded the Mongol Empire. The Mongols were fierce warriors and highly skilled with the bow and arrow that they could accurately shoot from their horse. Our Khan's Stallion has a knight that resembles a Mongolian horses in stature and appearance with its stocky build and head. The handsome knight and the unique shape of the tapered base separates this design from others. The knight features intricately carved details such as the eyes, flared nostrils, ears, and mane. The curvature of the back along with perfectly carved mane creates a unique profile. These pieces are made from African padauk and boxwood and polished to a beautiful luster.

The king is 4.25” tall with a base of 1.625”, an excellent size for the casual games at home and large enough for leaving out for home décor when not playing. The pieces have thick green baize pads so they slide smoothly across the chess board and are heavily weighted for stability. Whether you are a casual chess player, collector, or buying a special gift for someone, the Khan's Stallion Staunton chess set will be treasured forever.

This set was my first purchase from the Chess Store and it did not disappoint. The online photos are a true representation of this set's absolute beauty and perfection. The turning and carving of the pieces is an example of unsurpassed workmanship that is completed with a very smooth and elegant finish. Proportions from piece to piece are exceptional. The battlement atop the rook is the most detailed I have ever seen and the strength of the Mongol horse depicted in the knight is amazing. Pieces are nicely weighted and balanced and exude quality in the hand.

This set is a perfect match to my Padauk and Maple chess board with 2.125" squares.

I am totally overwhelmed with the quality of this set and believe it is superior to many costing hundreds more.
