I’ve seen and handled many of these German knight sets, and for the money this set from the Chess Store is the best imo. Beautifully weighted and proportioned. Very much like the sets seen in international tournament play.
The chess pieces have a nice feel in your hand. Well cut and polished. Very satisfied with them and the customer service from this company.
I am very impressed with these German Staunton pieces, ones which remind me of the very pieces used in so many international tournaments. Simple in design, functional and attractive. I might also note that these pieces do not easily tip over in use. This is my "go to" set for future USCF tournaments, as well as for home analysis. I purchased a Mahogany and Maple ($49.00) board in 1.75" squares and find the contrast to be perfect for me. I tend to dislike really dark squares given the low light conditions found in many tournaments. I feel I have scored huge with this set and board.
