This attractive handcrafted chess set includes our German Knight Staunton with golden rosewood and boxwood pieces matched with our Classic Walnut and Maple Chess Board. Simple is often best and our German Knight Staunton Chess Set with its simple and attractive design is the ideal chess set for your everyday chess game. Unencumbered by fine detail, these pieces will stand up to the rigor of regular play for a lifetime. This chess set features a 2.75” king with a base diameter of 1.25”, an excellent size for tournament play or the game at home. Pieces have thick green baize pads for a soft feel on the chess board and are nicely weighted for stability. The pieces are individually hand polished and lacquered to a beautiful shine. More chess games have been played with a German Knight than any other chess set in the world and it continues to be our number one selling chess set.

Our Classic Walnut and Maple Chess Board is wonderfully handcrafted from the finest veneers and sealed in a semi-gloss polyurethane finish that both enhances and protects the character of the wood. This board features 1.5” squares and has a footprint of 15.5" and is .5” thick. We framed the squares in a wide black delimiter to both accentuate the playing area and enhance the rich color of the walnut and maple. For balance of design and visual aesthetics, we enveloped the board with a frame the full width of the squares. The precision of the inlay work across the entire chess board is remarkable. This beautiful chess board will enhance the enjoyment of every chess game you play on it.

    Received this chess set on time and couldn't be happier! The chef pieces are beautifully crafted of solid wood. The chess board has a satin finish and looks to be well made. All with felted bottoms.

    This is an outstanding chess board and set of chessmen. I'm very glad I chose it. Extremely high quality. Should last a lifetime. Pieces are nicely weighted and slide smoothly across the board. A pleasure to play on. The pieces and board also look nice. A beautiful set.

    This set was a gift to my son. He is very pleased with the look and feel of it. It has a nice weight and the color of the wood is beautiful.

    Thank you so much; the shipping was fast(late for christmas, that was my fault though), and the board and pieces look great; just as the pics show. The board is perfect (no marks or anything), and you packaged it really well. It was just left outside our door all day while we were gone which I wasn't thrilled about; I believe I left an email and I might have left my phone number too, so I would have preferred that I was contacted if noone was home at time of delivery. I came home from work and didn't see it set on a chair off to the sidea on our deck, and my boyfriend (whose gift it was) came home from work after me, saw it, and walked in the door with it and read on the box what it was and everything so the element of surprise was kind of ruined. BUT- it looks great and thank you so much. You never know with online stuff sometimes so I was really happy with it overall : )
