This exquisite chess set includes our French Regency Antique Reproduction chess pieces in padauk and boxwood together with our Padauk and Bird's-Eye Maple Molded Edge Chess Board. This unique design was named after for Café de la Regence in Paris which was a popular spot for a game of chess in the early 1800's. There were many variations of the Regency set produced during this period with each pattern keeping with the general elements of the design. This particular model was very popular and we have carefully replicated the features that make this design unique. These pieces are made from padauk and boxwood and are nicely weighed to enhance their stability on the chess board. Padauk is one of the most colorful woods in the world ranging from coral red to burgundy. The king is 4.3” tall and has a base diameter of 1.5”. We include two extra queens for pawn promotion and a certificate of authenticity so you will always know what it is, when it was made, and where it came from.
