We introduced our Fierce Knight Series handcrafted chess set back in 2001 and it was an instant hit with the chess community. The name we gave this set accurately describes the knight with its fierce countenance captured by the detailed sculpture of its perked ears, eyes, nose, and mouth. This is the midsize version of the Fierce Knight with a 3.5” king and a base diameter of 1.625”. Pieces are made from ebonized and natural boxwood and are heavily weighted for exceptional stability on the chess board. Thick green baize pads on the bottom create a soft cushion and allow the pieces to slide smoothly across the chess board. From top to bottom the pieces have a graceful profile and elegant shape creating a cohesive design from king to pawn. We include two extra queens for pawn promotion and a certificate of authenticity so you will always know what the chess set is, what the wood is, where it came from, and when it was made. The Fierce Knight continues to be one of our most popular Staunton chess sets.

    Size, design, weighting, smoothness of finish, packaging, and service were all excellent. The black stain was not as dark on a couple of sections on two or three pieces as the others. Unnoticeable from three feet away. You can play a pretty good game of weeble wobble with them and they stand themselves back up. First nicer set, so no comment on value, but they as good or slightly better than expected. Reviews of different products on different websites probably lowered my expectations.

    Got these pieces to go with the tiger ebony and maple chess board and was a perfect match. Love all the pieces and especially love the knight in this set. They also look much better in person than on the website.

    I bought these pieces as a gift for my children. I wanted something that looked good enough to leave out. These pieces definitely fit the bill. As others have stated they are much nicer than I expected based on the general look from the site.

    Price: Very reasonable considering high level of craftsmanship and the evenness of finish, texture, weight and color of the chess pieces. Quality: Very well made and sturdy, with nice detailing on the pieces. The level of artistry is outstanding, and will impress players of all levels. Functionality: Perfect for both novice and advanced players. Pieces are weighted nicely to give them a substantial feel, and the base and height sizes fit well with standard board sizes. Service: Excellent. Fast Delivery, well-packaged, and very good service. Staff are helpful and eager to please. Overall Value: Excellent. Products are collectors-item quality: well made, perfectly suited for chess play, artistically crafted, and well worth the financial outlay to acquire them.
